Lately, the type tests for all the components of the research and application program of the urban rail new technologies of Zhuzhou CSR Times Electrical are finished, that is railroad car , the vehicle will be assembled at Line 1 of Changshan Metro for type test. This means the first “permanent magnet metro” of Hunan will carry passengers and be put into use in Changsha. It is expected that citizens can take the “permanent magnet metro” in the first half year of 2016.
The electric drive system is the core unit for realizing the power drive for rail transit railway vehicles, and its performance, to some extent, determines the power quality, energy consumption and control performance of rail transit vehicles. Thus it is considered one of the key systems of rail transit vehicles. Since 2003, Zhuzhou CSR has taken the lead in setting up research team for research of the PMSM traction system that is regarded as the development trend of the new generation of traction system. After tackling many difficulties, Zhuzhou CSR ultimately realized the technical transformation and became the only Chinese enterprise in dependently grasping the entire technology for permanent magnet traction system.
Permanent magnet traction system was put into trial application on urban rails at first. As early as 2011, the permanent magnet traction system of Zhuzhou CSR was assembled on Line 2 of Shenyang Metro and relevant assessment was also finished. The system was in safe operation for 67421 km in 20 months. But only one permanent magnet motor was installed among the 12 motors of Line 2 of Shenyang Metro at the time.
