Transmashholding delivers diesel locomotives to RZD

 Transmashholding’s Bryansk Engineering Plant has delivered a batch of 25 twin-section 2TE25KМ diesel locomotives to Russian Railways, which signed a contract in March for a total of 100 to be delivered this year, along with four 2TE25А mainline diesel locomotives  and 83 TEM18DM shunting locomotives.

The 2TE25KМ design was developed in support of a programme to develop Russian manufacturing capabilities which was subsequently influenced by the loss of production capacity at TMH’s factory at Luhansk in the eastern Ukraine conflict zone. Two prototypes were completed in late 2014 and early 2015.

According to TMH, 90% of the components and subsystems of the 2TE25KМ are Russian-made. The body is based on the 2TE25K design, while the bogies are a modified version of those used on 2TE116U locomotives. The 2 650 kW Kolomna 18-9DG engine is the same as that fitted to the 2TE116U, and the maximum speed is 120 km/h. Design considerations included providing easy access for maintenance, improved cab crash protection, HVAC and vibration isolation.

TMH said the 2TE25KМ is the first Russian-built design to comply with new technical regulations which have been introduced across the Customs Union of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

• TMH’s Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant has modernised a NPM2 industrial diesel locomotive for Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works. The NPM2M has new electronic control and diagnostic systems, a backup control unit and modifications to the body which are intended to provide improved access for maintenance.
